A Break From a Daily Writing Habit For Good Reasons
On some days family has to come first.
When you write daily for over five years, it’s hard to take a break. The habit becomes so tightly ingrained in one’s daily life that the words flow whether one wants them to or not.
But today I wondered if it was worth it for me to write. It takes time to write a piece for digital publication. My experience with writing online has been great, but there are some days when other things must take precedence. And this was the case today.
Instead of working on my blog today, I talked about books and authors with my mom.
Instead of writing my blog today, I weeded a garden for my dad.
Instead of writing my blog today, I took a walk along the Erie Canal with my husband and our dog.
We are on the last day of our vacation and at my parent’s house. Tomorrow we head home. We’ll have been gone for two weeks when we start out from Western New York to travel to Wisconsin in the morning. Both my husband and I are anxious to get home.
While it’s been a great trip, filled with new memories and seeing old friends, it’s time to return to our quiet cabin on a small lake in the Northwoods. We’ve projects to finish and more settling in to do. We made a move to our…
