A Disturbing Satirical Movie On Inauguration Day
A brief opinion on a disturbing trend in our society
My husband does a good job of picking movies. Last night, our second night on the United States Virgin Island of St. Thomas, he picked Don’t Look Up.
I’m not sure why he picked it because he later admitted he knew nothing about it. Perhaps it was because it had a lot of “famous” people in it.
Leonardo DiCaprio led a cast with Meryl Streep, Arianda Grande, Jennifer Lawrence, and more. The movie is not for everyone. In fact, online, many people criticized it. But it does reflect where we are as a society.
A major threat to humanity is all but ignored and then “spun” to the advantage of politicians. It does not end well. The scientists who try to warn everyone are painted as crackpots and left with no solutions.
Sound familiar? If not, it should.
We must do better.
