Argggh! I’ve been kissed by a dog!

Parenting kids is one thing, but parenting dogs? That’s another!

This week we are watching two of our three son’s pets. We also own a large yellow lab, Molly, who is just over 3 years of age. The first to arrive, last Saturday, was Stewart. He is a tiny dog, a mix of a lot of small breeds according to his embark testing. He is almost six months old, which if you know anything about dogs, means a lot of things!

It means that he’s not yet “fixed.” It means he’s still a puppy. It means he’s very energetic. And it also means that he’s being ruled by his hormones right now. Every available surface of our lab has been humped! Luckily, she was fixed and is definitely not interested. Yet, she’s patient with the pup. Stewart’s turn to get his hormones in check is coming next month. Right now, we just have to watch and laugh or highly discourage him from moving his rump back and forth at a fast pace. Molly does let him know when she’s had enough of his overtures.
