Many activities that start as a fun and enriching things to do can become expensive. I have three boys. One of was immensely talented as a musician- he had over ten years of private music lessons. We bought a piano and upgraded his instruments over the years as he became better and better. Special clothes are needed for concerts too- sometimes a tux - yes, he was that good.
But he stepped away from music when it came time to go to college. Because of not wanting a life filled with stress dnd competition. It was a good choice - even though he had the talent to go far. He now has a PhD in a STEM field.

Our middle and youngest sons played sports. Our youngest played on traveling a basketball team in middle school and then traveling soccer teams spring and summer and indoor soccer in the winter. It all costs money. Uniforms might not be used year to year snd boys grow later than girls so whole kits need replacement - along with the requisite warm up gear and clothes.

My point? It's all expensive snd no, it's probably not worth it. You meet a lot of people along that way that are cut throat too and that's hard to deal with.

Kids need to have fun and sports are enriching but can also be expensive and traumatic as well as highly competitive.

We always supported what our boys wanted to do but yeah, looking back - a lot of it wasn't worth the time or money, not to speak of the stress and social aspects.

Good luck to your girls.
