My First Month in the Medium Partner Program was Awesome
Learning and earning on a new platform.
I have to preface this post by telling you I have been writing daily for five years! I have a WordPress blog, The Apples in My Orchard, that helped me establish a daily writing habit. It was satisfying but I wanted more, I wanted to reach more people, and let’s be honest, I wanted to be paid!
My middle son first told me about the Medium Platform and Partner Program over two years ago. I dabbled with a post here and there, but once I found out you had to apply to the program and have a certain number (100) of followers before doing so, I let it slide. At that time. I was not sure it would be worth the effort.
But as I became more disenchanted with WordPress because of glitches and wanted to expand my reach, as well as challenge myself, I became increasingly fascinated with the idea of trying the Medium platform. Once we were settled after our move, I started posting to the platform daily in July.
That month was spent trying to accumulate enough followers. I did this, and continue to do this, by reading posts that interest me. Let me be clear, I did not clap for a clap or follow for a follow. I’d read an article, and if I liked it, I’d clap and follow the writer. If I really liked an article (post), I’d clap…
