On this Day in History…Armed Forces Day…41 years ago.
I was in Japan 41 years ago today. How do I know? It’s Armed Forces Day.
I had cabin fever today. I knew it when I got up this morning. I had to get out of the house. Luckily, it was a beautiful day; hopefully, the first of many for our late spring and summer seasons. I decided yesterday to pause my writing this weekend. But here I am, doing it again. Some habits are hard to break.
Now that I’ve had a few hours in the garden, planting some new perennials, I feel better. My hands got dirty. I smelled the earth and I immersed myself in the joys of gardening.
In the last week, I’ve planted gladiola corms, dahlia tubers, zinnia seeds, scabiosa plants, and purple coral bells. I’ve been able to examine my beds and see trillium coming up, wild blue lupine sprouting, and even some of last year’s asters and astilbes reemerging. I’m excited for a new season of gardening in a new place — our cabin.
