Other than flying over the southwest en route to other places, I didn’t plan a vacation to stay there until 2018. On that trip, I accompanied my sister to a nursing conference where she was taking some of her graduate students. We stayed in Palm Springs at the Rancho Mirage and lived it up for a few days. I didn’t attend the conference but made myself busy until she was free. I was finishing my research for my master's degree in Natural Resources so I had things to do — er, I should say papers to write.

But, on our last full day, I took a trip into the Mojave Desert on an open Humvee. We traversed the San Andres Fault line at our first stop (you cannot see this but just knowing it's under you is somewhat scary — like you are going to be swallowed up by the earth if it happens to open while you are there).

I write about the environment, education, nature, and travel. Having two master's degrees, in nursing and environmental education, I am a teacher at heart.
