Secrets From The Coveted Barbie Table
A fun spot in a corner of a restaurant leaves us wondering
I’m freshly back home in The Wisconsin Northwoods after spending two nights in Minnesota’s Twin Cities. At the middle age of 61, I had my first official adult “girl’s weekend” with my youngest son’s girlfriend and her mom.
Friday night, we ate at Millie’s Wine Bar where we had reservations. Immediately upon being seated, we were told we were at the “best table in the house” called the Barbie Table.
Huh?
None of us understood why it was referred to as the Barbie Table, but it was nicely located and tucked in the corner of the second floor, surrounded by windows overlooking the illuminated streets of the stunning Mill District of Minneapolis.
The menu boasted many sharable dishes, which is the trend nowadays no matter where you dine. We selected a charcuterie board, roasted brussel sprouts, and bruschetta. My son, who had joined us for dinner but not shopping, ordered a flatbread pizza.
Wine choices were fun and slightly more difficult. The menu, which boasted full vintage descriptors, offered the option of choosing a standard glass or a bottle.
But being a wine bar, one expects something different and Millie’s did not disappoint.
