Snowshoeing During The Last Days Of Winter Has Its Perks

As February ends, we expect so too shall the snow, eventually. Enjoy it now.

I don’t know how many years ago it was when we bought three pairs of LLBEAN aluminum-clad snowshoes. I guess it was well over fifteen years ago, maybe more.

There they sat in the carry bags on the basement shelf. We used them once or twice but not often and in most winters they were forgotten about entirely. We found them again when we moved from our permanent suburban residence to our cabin in the Northwoods last summer.

I’m happy to say that our lightweight, modern, and attractive snow shoes are getting some regular use now. My husband has made it a habit to snowshoe with the dog in the woods. We are lucky to have a groomed hiking trail within 50 yards of our cabin.

It’s a beautiful, serene space to enjoy nature during any season. But, winter snowshoeing on the trail has its perks.

Sunday, the sun was out and the skies were a clear cobalt blue. It was warm enough that I did not need to wear my mittens! Walking up the road to access the trail, one could…
