So true! I know my son who has visited Italy several times says that. But when you get away from the larger cities, it is more likely to run into only Italian speaking shop owners. But, still, they got on okay. The apology about speaking poor English is ironic because in most cases they speak it better than those of us who speak it natively! Don't you think?
