The Best Way to Start Your Day…Not!
I’m a slow starter. I think I always have been, although I’m just realizing this now. I’m also a “night owl” instead of an “early bird.” And, finally, I need about nine hours of sleep nightly to function without being crabby or feeling tired.
Over my fifty some odd years of life, I’ve learned to combat these problems. I should add, for the most part. Last night I slept poorly. I’ve written numerous articles on the topic of insomnia for my personal daily blog. I’ve also written poetry about being an insomniac. You can check the link below for a record of my experience with this persistent nighttime visitor.
Plagued by Insomnia — From my daily blog @ The Apples in My Orchard.
I know the reasons I slept poorly, but I won’t disclose them today. I finally drifted off after 2 a.m. thanks to the Benedryl I took at 1 a.m. I usually resist taking anything to help me sleep for it makes me feel “hungover” in the morning. But, last night I gave in.
This morning, I felt exactly how I knew I would — slow and hungover. I rolled out of bed at 8 just as my husband was taking our dog for her morning constitutional. This is per our usual routine. Having known me for close to 40 years, my husband knows the morning is not my best time of day and generally, leaves me be. So, off they went.
