The Petrified Forest National Park

This park is dwarfed by being in the same state as The Grand Canyon and Saguaro. It’s still worth a visit.

In the fall of 2021, my husband and I took a trip to see some National Parks in the great American Southwest. This included Arches, Grand Canyon, Saguaro, and The Petrified Forest with a stop in the Red Rocks area of Sedona for a few days as well. All of the scenery was spectacular.

Our visit to The Petrified Forest was at the end of our trip as we made it back by car from Saguaro National Park in the Tucson area of Arizona northward towards Denver where we were scheduled to fly out in two days.

If you are looking to escape the crowds of Arches and The Grand Canyon, and still see some awe-inspiring landscapes, The Petrified Forest is the place to go!

We started off by visiting the ranger station at this park. Although I had read about the highlights, we arrived late in the day and wanted to get in as much as we could before the park closed at 5 pm.
