Things about Wisconsin You Never Knew Until Now

When we moved to Wisconsin 24 years ago, I never knew what this state had to offer! It is a beautiful and diverse state.

Wisconsin, we found, is very much like New York. Both states have rolling hillsides and flat agricultural lands, as well as forests, streams, freshwater inland lakes, a border on two of the great lakes, and major metropolitan areas.

We can draw these similarities in topography and geography because we have lived in both states for a significant length of time. To further their similarities, both have a history rich in our country’s early transportation system using waterways — for both the great Mississippi River and the Erie Canal — made goods and services available to a wider area of our then-developing country.

New York and Wisconsin share something else — the Niagara Escarpment. I wrote about that similarity five years ago on my WordPress blog. But, to put it simply, the gorge that forms the great Niagara Falls runs on a fault line all the way to Wisconsin. You can find out more, here:
