Today is my 1400th Blog Post!

It is fitting that today is Slice of Life Tuesday! The Slice of Life writing challenge started me on my blogging journey over four years ago. I’ve written nearly every day since February 23, 2017.

Naturally, there are ups and downs when one blogs every day. Mostly, there have been satisfying days of accomplishment as my blog has grown and I collect comments from faithful readers, whom the younger people in my life would call friends.

Mostly, I reflect on life in my blog. My journey has been varied and this leads to connection with many different occupations, as well as thoughts on life. I’ve been an intensive care nursery nurse, a pediatric nurse practitioner, an invested volunteer for our school system, an advocate for gifted education, a developer of curriculum for a garden club I founded and ran for 13 years, a community speaker, a substitute teacher, a gardener, a photographer, an environmental educator, and a master gardener volunteer.

On top of all that, I am a mom of three successful adult young men, a wife, a sister, a daughter, and a friend.

I’ve lived in New York, Maryland, Delaware, and Wisconsin. I’ve worked in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Buffalo and Rochester New York, and Holmen, Wisconsin.

I read, sew, make jewelry, garden, cook, bake, and maintain habitat for monarch butterflies. My life activities provide a diversity of inspiring topics upon which I can muse and explore with the written word.

After 1400 posts and four years, my writing still brings satisfaction to my daily life. I’ve never been one to verbalize well. My brain speeds along faster than I can speak and my passion for certain subject areas is hard to deny. I become easily flustered before I can make my point. But, when I write, I can explain myself and hopefully be understood — without interruption, without suggestion, without face-to-face judgment. Writing is both cathartic and enriching for me. It is also something that needs constant practice and work — which, unbelievably, I truly like!

Among all the other things I am, after 1,400 blog posts, I think I can call myself a writer, too. If you are reading this post, I want to thank you for being part of my writing journey! There is more to come!

I write about the environment, education, nature, and travel. Having two master's degrees, in nursing and environmental education, I am a teacher at heart.
