Unfortunately, I have no basis for comparison, as I've only been a MPP since August 1st. But, I have written daily on WordPress for over five years - 1800+ posts! And, I garner more views on Medium. I hope some of my writing generates more internal views. The posts that I've had 1K views or more on were all external. I'll stick around to see what happens. Thanks for sharing your "gut" feelings.
