USVI: The Lure of St. Thomas in February

Last fall, my husband and I had decided we needed to go somewhere warm in the dead of our Midwestern winter.

We did this last year with a trip to Maui, our third trip to that island paradise but we figured we’d branch out.

I looked into where it was warm in the U.S. from the end of January to early February and found little.

After some consideration of Puerto Rico, we decided on the USVI. While I was still researching places to go, Puerto Rico experienced a hurricane. Luckily, I had not made our reservations when the storm occurred so I changed my focus to a neighboring island, St. Thomas.

The islands seemed like a great choice. The weather looked fabulous with the expected daytime highs in the 80s and lows in the 70s.

It wasn’t hard to get to, and there seemed to be a choice of accommodations. We wanted something on the beach! We could rent a car but would need to drive on the left. We booked. That was last fall.

Yesterday, we arrived on the Caribbean island of St. Thomas. In comparison to going to Maui, our flights seemed super fast.
