What’s Bothering me about Medium

I’ll probably draw some fire for sharing this, but I’m going to put it out there anyway.

The last few Medium.com articles I’ve read have typos in them. I mean, really?!

I’m not perfect, and I know neither is anyone else but when you write for publication, online or otherwise, AND are earning money for your writing aren’t you supposed to be proofreading your articles?

I’ve written a personal reflective daily blog for five years @theapplesinmyorchard.com and I know I’ve hit “publish” without seeing every error in my posts. But I’m not being paid for my blog, nor do I have the thousands of readers that these authors have acquired.

Part of the reason the errors aren’t seen is that they are true words, not misspelled words but words that don’t make sense in the context of the sentence. And they aren’t caught by the author, most likely, for this very reason.

I can tell you that the medium platform does a damn good job at catching spelling and grammatical errors. I know. I have been typing my blog on WordPress and then sharing it on my medium partner page. Medium.com always, and I mean always catches errors that WordPress doesn’t.

So, what gives?

Are the authors of these pages in such a rush to rake in the dough, they don’t care anymore about…
