Wow! I am shocked but not surprised. I've written during The NaNoWriMo event , specifically last year, accomplishing 30,000 words of a novel in 3 weeks. I never signed into the forums. I think this was handled so poorly and will not use or promote any use of their organization now.

My sons were encouraged to write with their middle school TAG teacher for NaNoWriMo years ago. They elected not to. Now, I'm so glad they didn't.

Thank you for sharing this information. As a community educator who led in person writing groups for children, this whole thing with NaNoWriMo is deplorable. Safety first- there should have more safe guards in place and never removed. Organizations get too complacent.
