Yikes! It’s Just Mid-October and It Snowed Today!

I don’t mind the snow, but this seems early!

October is flying by. We have had a flurry of visitors starting on the 30th of September and are expecting more tonight. We thought October would be a good time for friends and family to visit. Really, it has been!

But the snow this morning was somewhat shocking! We woke up to a dusting on the ground and it continued to come down all morning. Luckily, it is wet and easily cleaned off surfaces like the cars and our deck. The roads weren’t bad either as I trekked into town to grocery shop. It wasn’t even slippery but the car thermometer indicated the temperature was hovering at 32 degrees.

I had asked my husband not to take our dock out, yet. He mentioned doing so last week when we had a day in the low 80s. But with our friends coming tonight, I wanted him to leave it so we could walk out on the deck and view the leaves or have a cocktail. Now I feel bad because there won’t be any of that going on due to the snow! In fact, we had left deck furniture out which caused a scramble to store it this morning. Luckily, my husband has got the new storage shed finished. The landscaping, which he was hoping to do, will have to wait now too.

This burst of wintery weather prompted me to look up when the average first snowfall…
